Description
- Known as sea-superfood, whole-leaf kombu kelp strips provide natural & smooth, flavour enhancer, to infuse broths, stocks and soups. Highly prized in Japanese cuisine and the centre-piece of Dashi Stock.
- Kombu can be added to dried beans cooking in boiling water to decrease the cooking time, soften the beans, make them easier to digest, and thicken the bean broth. It is a vegetable that is rich in protein, calcium, iodine, magnesium, iron, and folate.
- Adding a small piece of kombu to dried beans helps to tenderize them as they cook or adding to stock ingredients or soup or stews. This imparts a wonderful depth and umami flavour to your food and infuses additional nutrients and essential minerals and vitamins into your food.
- As a food additive, it is used to reduce fat absorption and thus obesity. Kombu contains very little calories & maximum potassium of all sea vegetables. It is said to also be effective in cleaning the blood and decreasing cholesterol levels.
